A great weekend ahead

We have an exciting week ahead of us with the 2020 Masters set to get underway on Thursday. Due to the altered schedule this year, for the first time, the Masters will be played in November meaning the course will look slightly different to the previous year. Also, with no fans being allowed to spectate, I’m sure the whole feel of the tournament will be slightly different from what we are used to. However, with the best players in the world fighting it out to put on that green jacket at the end of the week, I am in no doubt it is going to be an extremely exciting tournament with plenty of drama throughout.

As many of you are aware, we are running a Masters sweepstake for the tournament and everyone who has taken part has been allocated a player. Find out which player you got in the Shop news section below. Best of luck to everyone.

It's coming fast

Christmas is fast approaching. For those of you who guessed correctly, I have been trying to flatten my left wrist at the top of the backswing. The picture on the right is correct. By flattening the left wrist it will help me to control the clubface through impact and rule out a shot to the right, which is a no go zone for me when I am on the golf course. Did you guess correct??

Competition news

Monthly Medal

On Saturday the 7th November, the monthly medal was up for grabs. The results were as follows:

Division 1 saw Paul Edwards take first place with a great score of 1 under par, 68, nett 64. Second place by a single shot was Gary McMeeking with a 73, nett 65. Third place was Bill Cumming due to a better inward half with a score of 79, nett 67.

Division 2 was won by John Donaldson with a score of 85, nett 63. Hugh Miller took second spot with a better inward half and a score of 80, nett 66. Arran Cameron took third again due to a better inward half with a score of 88, nett 66.

Congratulations to all the winners. Some great scores Gents, especially as we are now coming into the cold time of year. Keep it up!

The Pro Shop Winter Eclectic is back…..

Due to the success of last winter’s Winter Eclectic competition, we have decided to run it again this year.

This is open to all members with handicaps and will be a Stableford Format. Your best 4 rounds will count for your total at the end of the winter but you can play as often as you like (3 rounds a week with current restrictions as set out by the club) to give yourself the best chance of winning.

The competition will be £ 10 enter and all entry money will be paid out as prizes. Just pop into the shop to enter.

The event will start running from 9th November until the mats are out of play for the new season but you can enter any time throughout the winter months.

Masters week is upon us

It’s a Masters unlike any other, and yet the same unique excitement has been hanging in the air for weeks now. In fact, with everything going on in the world, this four-day reprieve feels more special than ever.

All bets are off. Or, at least, they should be. Nobody in this field has played a Masters in November, so who knows what could happen? But, if there’s one thing to get you excited for this week, it’s what happened last time out and Tiger's incredible 15th Major victory.

Hitting your irons close

Hopefully, you’ll be watching The Masters on TV this week as there will no doubt be plenty of great golf on display. If ever there was a course that put a premium on finding the greens, it’s Augusta National.
