The competition rules will be set out as follows:

- Entry will be £4 per player which will include two’s and sweep, entry of both will be compulsory.

- Payment for entry will be accepted via cash (providing hand sanitiser is used prior to handling cash) or by contactless card payment.

- All winnings will be paid onto your shop account if you either have a two or win.

- The format will be Stableford, full handicap.

- You will keep your own score and the score of your playing partner. No exchanging of scorecards.

- Once you have completed your round you will verbally confirm your scores with each other. Again, no swapping or signing of cards.

- Upon finishing the 18th hole and making sure that scores are correct, you will call them into the shop where a staff member will keep a record of scores and any twos.

Ladies results

Following the re-introduction of handicap qualifying competitions, the ladies played for the Centenary Salver on Thursday 23 July 2020. Despite mixed weather 40 ladies participated.

Anne Fisher won going out in 51 coming back in 47 with 2 pars beating June Dempster by 3 shots. Well played, everyone.

Find the right clubs for your game

I have now caught up with custom fittings. Thank you to everyone who has attended custom fittings recently. Your custom, as always is very much appreciated.

If you are interested in getting a new club or set of clubs please get in touch and we will make sure that you walk away with the correct equipment.

We use the latest FlightScope technology to track every swing made during the fitting process. This aids us in making sure that we get a suitable specification to your own individual needs. If you would like to find out more, please speak to myself or the staff.

Hand sanitiser

We have just taken delivery of some 70% alcohol content hand sanitiser pocket sized bottles. These are nice and neat bottles that are an ideal size for your golf bag and at only £2 a bottle they are a bargain. Pop in and get yours before stock runs out.

New Under Armour logo 1/4 zip

Some cracking logo Under Armour ¼ tops have arrived in-store. We have only taken a delivery of six of them so please get in touch to reserve yours.

Anti-bacterial mask

Last call…….Anti - bacterial face masks are back in stock. They are re-useable, and they have anti-bacterial properties for up to 20 washes. Only £12 each or two for £20. Available in white and black. Please get in touch if you would like one or two set aside.

Please note...

The following updated pro shop protocols will be reviewed along with government guidance, but the long and short is that I want to protect both my staff and you the customer when entering the pro shop.

1. A face mask must be worn when entering the shop.

2. Strict one in, one out policy.
(The door of the shop will be open at all times. If you pop your head in and there is already someone in the shop, please be patient and stand in the designated area outside the shop until you are able to enter.

3. You will only be allowed into the shop if you sanitise your hands before entering the shop
(Sanitiser will be supplied at the entrance of the shop.)

4. Please keep a safe distance from all staff members.
(The shop will be set up with prices on all product and sizes clearly visible on hangers or clothing. If unsure then, by all means, ask a member of staff who will be able to help safely.)

5. Should you wish to purchase a pair of shoes and would like to try them on, please let us know before your round so that we can take the proper precautions for you returning after your round to try them on. For any purchases that require demonstration i.e. trollies, demo equipment, this will take place outside the shop.

6. All confectionary will only be handled by my staff. They will collect what you require from the fridge and chocolate stand.
(They will be sanitising after every transaction has taken place.)

7. Please respect fellow members and all staff.
(We are here to help and will get to you as soon as we possibly can.)

These are difficult times to run a small business on what is quite a small shop floor. I really appreciate your business and I know it is not going to be the same way of shopping with us for a while but please, please make an effort in popping in to support us.

Time to update your wedges?

That moment when you pitch the ball close to the pin and stop it on a dime for a tap-in putt is like no other. It dramatically reduces your score whilst looking awesome. As with all shots, it requires both technique and confidence, not to mention wedges with sharp grooves.

A recent survey highlighted that a third of golfers carry wedges that are over five years old. We appreciate that everyone has a club or two in their bag that they love but grooves will gradually deteriorate over time.

If you are one of these golfers, it's worth coming to see us for a chat. We can get you testing some new wedges against your current ones to see if it's time for a change.

This European Tour challenge is pretty simple: pick your favourite club and play the entire hole with it. Close House was the venue ahead of last week's British Masters, but how did the players get on? There were certainly a few surprises!
