Hi everyone,

It has been yet another busy week in the shop but for many different reasons. With some good weather starting to return so have the golfers to help keep the shop busy. Jordan has been away this week on holiday in Ibiza so I’m sure he’ll be looking forward to getting back for all of you to keep him busy.

Hardy’s Hut hasn’t been quite as busy over the last few days due to Gareth being off. Exciting times for all of the Hardy’s as they have been moving house to get some more space since the arrival of baby Lyla. Not that far of a move as it is probably only about three streets away from their old house but I’m sure as many of you will know it is not a stress free undertaking. Worth it in the long run though I’m sure. The move even managed to keep Calum busy as he was up in Kilmarnock lending a hand, suppose that will keep him busy since he is still off newsletter duty.

Peter Norris Over 50’s Medal

Last Wednesday’s medal was the Peter Norris over 50’s medal and it had a look to the leaderboard than most medals. This medal had two winners, the player with the winning score and the player who won the medal. Well done to Fraser Murray who carded 43 Stableford points which was the lowest score of the day, sadly Fraser's lack of years prevents him from winning the medal. Well done to David Court who carded 42 points which was the highest over 50’s score which gave him the trophy.

Well done gents.

We have another Titleist fitting day coming up on September 24th where the technician will be fitting all the latest equipment including the brand new range of TS Hybrids, the new U500 and U510 utility irons as well as all of the new T-series irons.

The Insomniac’s Cup

The inaugural challenge between the Earlybirds and the Roadrunners – the group that play after the Earlybirds – took place for the Insomniac’s Cup last Monday. 6 x 4balls teed off from the yellow stones in windy yet, remarkably, dry weather.

The Roadrunners took an early lead by 2 points to nil, with the Earlybirds fighting back to 2½ - 1½ after 4 of the 6 matches. The remaining 2 games went down to the last hole with the Earlybirds triumphing 3½ - 2½ to take the trophy.

A nearest the pin prize on the 12th went unclaimed as none of the 24 players managed to hit the green, such was the strength of the wind.

Lunch and prize-giving followed and both sides thoroughly enjoyed the day with an agreement to play for the trophy again next year.

The most beautiful shot in golf

If we were to ask you this question what would you say? We think some of you would say the ‘Tiger stinger’ but a good proportion would say the pitch shot that takes a couple of bounces before stopping to a halt. It looks sensational but how on earth do you play it?

The key to making this shot is simple – your wedges. Yes, technique is key and is certainly something we can talk you through during a lesson but without the correct equipment you stand no chance.
