Hi Folks,

It’s been another great week both at the club and at home for us with my mother arriving from South Africa to see her first grandchild. A few tears shed but we are loving having her visit & so is Lyla.

The Open is just about upon us with the Scottish Open taking place this week.

Who is going to be this year's Champion Golfer of the year?

In the lead up to The Open this year we are running an Open Sweepstakes competition as we did last year. This year the first prize will be a Callaway Limited Edition Open Tour bag including matching leather head covers worth £350! There were only 150 of these produced so a fantastic opportunity to own an absolutely great piece of Open memorabilia. There will be 5 prizes for the sweepstake including the new Titleist carry bag which retails at £200 and another three great prizes. All you need to do is pop into the Pro Shop to enter for just £5. You will be assigned a player once the event starts and it’s fingers crossed until that final putt is holed on the Sunday afternoon of The Open.

Great Improvements in Hardy's Hut

We are fairly busy with lessons at the moment but please don’t think that you will not get a booking if you are in need of a lesson. There are always changes to the diary with people having to re-arrange or cancel due to unforeseen circumstances so please give us a call or pop in if you feel you need your game looked at.

July Medal

Saturdays July Medal was a day of that made scoring tough with only two players beating their handicap on the day.

With crosswinds constantly throughout the day, it was no surprise.

Well done to Rod Young who shot a nett 68 in Division 1 and James McCardel who shot a nett 67 in Division 2.

Hands up...

...if the only time you 'practice' your wedge play is when you hit a few shots at the start of your warm-up routine? Sadly, this isn't going to lead to a dialled in wedge game, which is one of the fastest ways to see your scores come tumbling down.

1 club. 3 swings. 3 distances.

Sounds easy, right? Well, it could be but first there are two things you must do in order to start saving shots.

1. Correctly gapped wedge system - What we mean by this is having an equal gap between each club in your bag, so you're never left trying to 'manufacture' a shot on the golf course (this is where large numbers start).
