Roger Casket Open Competition The annual Roger Casket over 50’s Open Competition was played at the beginning of the month with a great day for all who took part. There was a great support from St Nicholas members as always with them making up six spaces out of the Top 10. Well done to the eventual winner, St Nicholas’ own George Hunter who returned a nett 63.
Tri-Am Competition Sunday 23rd was the annual Tri-Am competition with some great results being returned but the winner was rather far in front with a four shot lead and nett 51. Although I’m sure questions were asked considering it was the first game and two-thirds of the team were the Match and Handicap Secretaries, let’s hope that card was verified. The Honorary Presidents new handicap would have been a great bonus I’m sure. In all seriousness well done to Jim McNairney, Gordon McKinlay and Billy Murray for a great result, well played guys.
St Nicholas Open Sunday 30th was our annual St Nicholas Open. Players come from all over to compete on our tough test of links and this day was no different. An extremely strong wind throughout the day made it very difficult for every competitor in the field. However, some great scoring despite the weather just shows that the course is willing to reward good quality golf. Congratulations to C Darroch of Erskine Golf club, taking home the trophy with a brilliant gross 69. The scratch winner was A Russell of Clydebank Overton with a gross 73, division 0-9 was headed by C Darroch, and our 10-18 division was won by A Bell of Ballochmyle golf club with a nett 70. Well done for braving the testing conditions guys, great playing! |
