Happy New Year to you all!

Hi folks,

I hope that you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year. I’m quite sure that like myself there was plenty of food and drink, so time to get back out onto the golf course and walk all of those mince pies off.

We are now officially starting the count down to the season starting again and with that the new stock for 2019 will be starting to arrive over the next few months.

We have already received a drop of new lady Titleist golf balls over the past few days, details of which you will find below in the product spotlight section.

There are still plenty of fantastic deals to be had in the shop for this time of year.

Keep an eye open for any sale cubes on hangers, there are also great deals on golf shoes at the moment so pop in if you are passing and use those vouchers you received this Christmas.

Coaching corner

The time is now…

The golfing season is not far away so it’s time to whip your game into shape, I start coaching as of the 16th January again and the diary is starting to fill up so make sure you book your slot.

If you are serious about your game and want to make serious improvements I would recommend purchasing a block of lessons.

When purchasing a block you are able to use two of your lessons towards an on course 9-hole lesson which gives us a very good insight into where your game currently is. It also helps diagnose what areas are needing more attention going forward into the rest of that block.

If you are looking to treat a family member or friend we have vouchers available.

Prices for lesson vouchers are as follows:

45 minute lesson - £30

45 minute lesson with FlightScop - £35

Block of 6 lessons £150 (Buy 5 get 1 free)

Gapping Session with FlightScope - £35

9 hole Playing Lesson - £60 (Or in conjunction with block)

Two people in a lesson add 50%, three people in a lesson add 75% etc.

*All lessons are on a one to one basis unless otherwise stated. All lessons to be paid in cash or cheque*

Competition news

Christmas and New Year Competitions

Well done to Ronnie Mercer who won this years Christmas Competition with a score of 37 points. In close tied second came David Fergus, Ed Clack and David Hainey.

The New Year Competition was won by George McKay with an impressive 40 points, fantastic scoring playing off a handicap of 4. Second place belonged to Ian McCall on 39 points and third place came in the form of Ronnie Mercer with 38 points who’s Christmas has whipped his game into shape.

Tour news

Close, but not close enough

It was a case of what might have been for Rory McIlroy, as his first event of 2019 ended with him in a tie for 4th place at the Sentry Tournament of Champions. McIlroy, who was in contention going into the final round, could only card a round of 72, eight shots behind eventual winner Xander Schauffele who shot a stunning course-record equalling 62.

The tournament featured 33 PGA Tour winners from the previous calendar year, so McIlroy can take heart that he beat the majority of a very strong field - however, he'll be hoping that his ability to produce a strong final round finally resurfaces by the time the first major of the year comes along.

A new year always brings with it a sense of renewed motivation when it comes to improving your golf game – and 2019 isn’t any different. So, before you head to the course next, go into the garage and give your equipment the once-over to make sure all is in order for the year ahead.

Golfin' in the rain

If last year’s “Beast from the East” taught us anything, it’s that you definitely need a golf-specific rain jacket when you’re playing golf in the early months of the season.
