Hi folks,

It has been a reasonably busy week at the club with the Christmas ball taking place and being well attended on Friday. The kids had their annual visit from Santa at their Christmas party on Sunday. It was great to see so many kids with a smiles on their faces when Santa walked in, although it has to be said that some adults still looked a bit more excited.

Christmas is approaching very quickly as you can see with all the Christmas decorations up in the shop.

This is the time that you don’t want to miss out on as there are some great buys on offer in the shop. If you are needing product ordered for Christmas it will be tight for time depending on some of the companies but come in to the shop ASAP and we can try our best to get anything in if we don’t already have it in stock. Whilst we are talking about stock, we have plenty of options in store if you are struggling for motivation, come in and have a look. Why not purchase a voucher of any denomination if you are struggling with ideas.

Myself, Mark and Gareth are looking forward to joining the 9 o' clock boys on Saturday for there Christmas bash. Once Jordan finishes in the shop he will also join us and we are heading up to Glasgow for our Christmas night out. Unfortunately on Sunday Jordan drew the short straw and is in the shop (go easy on him). Gareth also has the pleasure of joining the seniors next Monday and is looking forward to that.

Junior Academy

We'll be back

After a great season with some amazing scores and outstanding numbers turning out every week for the juniors across all ages their coaching has now stopped for the Christmas break.

The coaching will start back on Sunday the 20th of January, we can’t wait for this to start and see all our kids progress through the 2019 season.

Thanks to all the volunteers from the Professional Staff and the kids for taking time out of your weekends to come along and help, your help is massively appreciated.

So close yet so far

It was a case of so close yet so far for Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell and Argentine team-mate Emiliano Grillo, as they finished agonizingly short in the QBE Shootout in Florida, missing out on top spot by a single stroke. The event, which follows a fourball format, was won by Americans Patton Kizzire and Brian Harman, who finished on -30 after a final round of 61. Tony Finau and the LPGA’s Lexi Thompson finished on -23.

Meanwhile, it was an emotional victory for 2010 Open winner Louis Oosthuizen, as he claimed his first South African Open over the weekend – the first time the South African has won the tournament. An eagle and five birdies in his final round meant that Oosthuizen ended the tournament on -18 under – a record-equaling six shots clear of second place. England’s Oliver Wilson finished on -10, in a tie for third place.

We all want to enjoy playing golf, and a big part of this is lowering our handicap. Yes, there will be times when your game isn't up to scratch and you go up .1 a few times in a row, but there'll also be times when all of the puzzle pieces fit and your handicap tumbles.
