Hi Folks,
A busy week on the course as many of you will know with the Scottish Senior’s Women’s Championship taking part throughout the week.
This unfortunately does mean limited tee time availability for members. However, there will still be times after the end of play every day. If you give us a phone here in the Pro Shop we will be more than happy to help you sort out a time and take advantage of the great weather that is forecast for the whole week. |

It was a change of career path for myself on Saturday as Gareth invited me to caddy for him in a pro-am at Bathgate Golf Club. It was a brilliant day with a bit of wind to keep the golf course playing tough. It was the first time I had seen the course and was extremely impressed with the condition of it, all greens were incredibly pure and rolled very well. After a promising start and being under par for most of the day, Gareth finished with a 1 over par total of 72, a little disappointing considering the number of good shots and putts he hit on the back nine, with three or four putts burning the edges and completely baffling us as to how they did not drop. Gareth finished tied for 18 place it a pretty talented field, slightly disappointing but more than enough positives to take with him for the rest of the season.
I hope everyone has a great week and gets the chance to get some golf with all the sun that is set to return.

Keep your eye out As mentioned last week there has been a spike in the amount of pro shop break ins around Scotland over the past few months. We ask that all members be vigulant to any suspicious characters around the clubhouse or pro shop. We ask that any members living on St Ninians road report any suspicious activities around the Professional Shop after closing hours. Your help is hugely appreciated. |

Midweek Stableford
Last Wednesday was another Stableford which was played in some really windy conditions which kept the scoring tight at the top of the leaderboard with five players tied for second with 35 points, couple of low handicappers in there as well showing off how to play in the wind. The winner was easily decided in the end with a fantastic score of 39 points, congratulations to Duncan McMurdo. |

Do you know?
Mark and Calum are paired together in a charity Pro-Am. Mark has started brilliantly with three birdies at the first three holes whereas Calum has started with a double bogey at the first, a shakey par at the second and a three putt bogey at the driveable par 4 third hole. Standing on the 4th tee, Calum asks for a swing tip from Mark to try and help kick start his round. The other players in the group question this. What is the ruling?
Find out what the answer is in next week’s newsletter.
Did you get the answer to last week’s rule?
Your second shot on the 8th hole hits the green but spins off the front, down the slope, over the hazard line and stops before the water. The ball is still playable but is surrounded by small rocks and sticks, loose impediments. Are you allowed to move these loose impediments before taking your shot? Answer: B. NO Rule 13-4 |
Are you searching for a few extra yards?
This week’s product spotlight is the Titleist Velocity golf ball. This ball is a slightly firmer golf ball for extra distance but is a high launching ball to maximise distance. These have been highly recommended to achieve maximum distance from every shot.
At the moment when you purchase a dozen of these golf balls, you receive a FREE infuser water bottle, perfect for the weather that is due over the next few weeks.

First one way, now the other The U.S. Open had everything from the sublime to the ridiculous, and it’s safe to say that the course set-up played a huge part in this. With much of the debate centred around whether the USGA made conditions too tricky or not, we posed this very question to you over the past week on our website poll and here are the results: 75% of you believe the USGA got it wrong at Shinnecock Hills It really does make for interesting reading. Just a couple of months ago we asked you whether you’d prefer to see 20-under-par win a tournament or two-over-par, and the results were the complete reverse. On that occasion, 82% voted in favour of seeing the world’s best struggle to make a score, which is exactly what happened at the U.S. Open. Click here to let us know your thoughts. |
Which bracket do you fall in? |
There’s one thing that you'll always need in abundance when playing golf and that’s balls - and plenty of them. Each golf ball we sell offers different levels of feel and performance at varying price points, meaning we have something to offer all playing preferences and budgets. |
| Bang for your buck Balls at a cheaper price point usually have one key performance benefit rather than offering a little of everything. This Callaway Warbird follows the trend by offering maximum distance with your longer clubs thanks to its aerodynamic dimples and high-energy core, giving you lots of power for little expenditure. |
| The all-rounder If you’re looking for more balanced performance through the bag but without the premium price tag, this Callaway Supersoft ball is designed to be long, straight and soft. It doesn’t spin as much as the Chrome Soft, but its low compression core helps create long, high flights that land softly. |
| Tour performance The saying 'you get what you pay for' certainly applies when it comes to golf balls. Callaway's Chrome Soft is their premium option, and it's easy to see why, with a soft urethane cover for short-game spin and a graphene-infused core that boosts ball speed and provides more iron control. |
