Alastair’s ball lies on the putting green. He marks the position of his ball with a small coin before rotating it several times to line up a mark on his ball which he added to help with alignment. What is the ruling?
A. Alastair is penalised one stroke. B. Alastair is penalised two strokes. C. There is no penalty. Answer: C. The Note to Rule 20-1 recommends that the position of the ball be marked by placing a ball-marker, a small coin or other similar object immediately behind the ball. A player may draw a line on his ball to assist with alignment. (See Decisions 18-2/33 and 20-3a/2). |
