Pros news

Hi Folks,

The new season is finally upon us, as we go into March some exciting product is due to arrive in store. This season I will be stocking Under Armour, FootJoy, PING, Glenmuir, Sunderland and Lyle and Scott clothing ranges. All of these are due to land within the next month so please keep popping your head in for a nosey and be the first to grab yourself some fantastic clothing for the summer months.

On a more personal note my knee is on the mend but taking a little longer than expected. I have been attending physio which to date is going well but at the same time has given me the realisation that I need to take my time and get the knee operational before taking on too much. I hope to commence coaching week starting 20th March.

Some important dates for the diary are as follows:

Tuesday, 9 May - Callaway Demo Day starting at 4pm, more info to follow shortly.

Sunday, 23 July - my first Pro's Day, please keep the day free, some great prizes will be available on the day.

Hope you all have a good week and hope to see you about the proshop.

Competition news

Just another quick reminder that you all only have till the end of this week if you'd like to enter this year's Jubilee Bowl and Summer Fourballs. Entries CLOSE  Sunday, 5 March so don't miss out.

Product spotlight

FootJoy's new range of shoes for 2017 are now available in store. Some fantastic new shoes for the 2017 season including the remodelled HyperFlex 2.0 and the all new Pro/SL

Pro/SL men's golf shoes provide superior feel with Fine Tuned Foam (FTF) for supple cushioning and a perimeter weighted outsole design for superior stability, the tour proven standard for spikeless performance.

Pop in and have a look for yourself at what true comfort looks like.

Rule of the week

Q. Douglas and Neil were playing a tie in the Jubilee Bowl. Douglas wins the match on the 17th hole but then concedes the tie to Neil as he is going on an extended holiday and cannot continue in the competition. Is this permissible?

Did you get the answer to last week's rule?

Q. In the Monthly medal, Jim, Gordon and Colin were scheduled to start at 8.00am. All players were present at the first tee at 7:56 am. Jim started at 7:58 am, Gordon started at 7:59 am and Colin started at 8:00am. What's the ruling?

A. Unless the Committee considers that the players have started as a result of an error by the committee or its representatives, Jim and Gordon are subject to a penalty of disqualification for failing to start at the scheduled time. However, in view of the fact that starting within five minutes after the allocated time results in a penalty of two strokes, under rule 33-7, the committee should modify the disqualification penalty to 2 strokes. Colin incurs no penalty as he did start at 8:00 am. Rule 6-3a and 33-7. Decision 6-3a/5.

MOT your game

This is the time of the year to get your clubs re-gripped.

If your golf grips are worn, slippery or shiny and more than a couple of years old it's time to MOT them.

We have some great re-grippping deals in store, pop in and we will talk you through what grips are best suited to you.

Your only point of contact with the club is via the grip, so it's vitally important that yours aren't neglected.

This is why we're offering to put a new Golf Pride grip on your 7-iron for FREE. It is only through experiencing the benefits that a new grip offers that you'll realise the detrimental effects worn grips will have on your golf.
