Sunday, 18 December marked the last 5-hole Order of Merit Challenge in 2016 before the kids and volunteers take a break for the Christmas and New Year period. 2016 has been a fantastic year for the junior section and it has certainly gone from strength to strength. In-fact it has been that successful that we are near enough at the point where our junior section is completely full and a reserve list will be put in place.
This Sunday's winner came in the form of Connor Wills with a super score of 24 strokes over 5 holes. Well done Connor.
I would like to thank all of the parents, volunteers and committee for all of your support with the junior section over this past year. Without all of your help the success of the junior section would not be possible. I look forward to see where the junior section takes us in 2017.
If you are interested in helping out or potentially sponsoring the juniors, whether it's just for the 1 week or winter period, please get in touch.

Q. Kenny and John are playing in a medal competition. Kenny hits a wild drive right at the 11th hole into the deep rough. Having announced his intention in advance to John, Kenny touches and rotates a ball he has found in the vicinity his ball finished for the purposes of identifying it. By doing so, he is able to identify it as his own. Is there a penalty?
Find out what the ruling is in next week's newsletter...
Did you get last newsletter's rule correct??
Q. Jimmy and Tommy are playing in a stroke play competition. Both players inadvertently are playing a ball with the same brand, model and number, with no other identification marks on them. Both players hit great drives at the 4th hole. When they arrive at their balls one is 30 yards further up the fairway. Jimmy declares that as he normally drives the ball further that Tommy, the ball closest to the hole must be his. What is the correct ruling?
A. Since neither Jimmy nor Tommy could positively identify the ball as their own. Both balls were lost and both players need to return to the tee to play another ball under penalty of Stroke and Distance. Rule 12-2, Decision 27/10.
