Both Mark and I took a trip over to Arran on Monday for a game of winter golf. We had arranged to play a game at Shiskine but upon arriving at Shiskine Golf Club we were told that the course was frozen and that no golf would be played that day. We then literally drove around the entire island before finally arriving at Corrie Golf Club which was the only course open on the island. What a great afternoon we had and were pleasantly surprised at how good a condition the course was in. Well worth a visit if you're hoping to pop over for a day's golf.
The clocks have now changed so be sure to pop in and get winter essentials for the coming few months. Some great exclusive Prestwick St Nicholas logo product with new mitts, headwear and club head-covers are now in stock.
We are now operating in winter hours. The shop opening times are as follows for the winter months.
Unfortunately due to Saturday evening's freezing conditions Sunday's junior order of merit was called off. The course was completely frozen and no golf was able to be played. Weather permitting the course should be playable this weekend so we hope to see you all out then.
If you are interested in helping out or potentially sponsoring the juniors, whether it's just for the 1 week or winter period, please get in touch.
This Christmas Fayre on Friday, 18 November was a great success with the night being very busy with members and guests alike.
There were loads of stalls where items from sweets to jewellery and not forgetting some lovely ladies clothing ranges where on display.
Here is our very own Club Steward doing his bit for the evening by getting a facial to try and get rid of some of those unwanted wrinkles. Not looking bad for a 49 year old!
The new Titleist 917 demo drivers and fairway woods have now arrived in store.
If you would be interested in attending the Titleist custom fitting centre at Gleneagles pop in to the shop or give us a call and we'll arrange the fitting for you. If you fancy a hit or would like to book a lesson or custom fit session on our FlightScope X2 launch monitor here at Prestwick St Nicholas, pop in store or call us on 01292 473904. Q. Jimmy and Johnny are partners in the clubs Winter foursome competition. Johnny plays a fantastic drive at the 8th hole, leaving the ball in the perfect position. Jimmy, not confident about playing the shot over the quarry, swings at the ball, but deliberately misses. Johnny then plays their third shot to a few feet of the pin. Is this permissible?
Find out what the ruling is in next week's newsletter…..
Did you get last week's rule correct??
Q. Gordon and Russell are partners in the Clubs Winter foursome competition. Gordon accidentally moves the ball after addressing it and incurs a penalty of one stroke under rule 18-2b. Should Gordon or his partner Russell play the next stroke?
A. Gordon must play the next stroke. Penalty strokes do not affect the order of play. Rule 29-1, Decision 29-1/5.
