I attended a custom fit seminar at St Andrews last week on Wednesday which was a fantastic learning experience. 

The seminar was held at The St Andrews Links Golf Academy in conjunction with Callaway Golf and my buying group Foremost Golf.

Both Martin Cairns (2016 junior convenor) and myself visited the Holm Golf Club in Hamburg Germany from Friday to Monday last week. 

This was in an effort to create a relationship between Prestwick St Nicholas's junior section and Holm Golf Clubs junior section. 

It was an amazing learning experience where we met new friends and shared many ideas with regards to growing and improving junior golf as a whole. 

The trip was hugely successful with both of our clubs agreeing to start a junior tour bi-annually between the clubs. This will start next year with Holm juniors visiting us first in the summer of 2017. 

I would like to thank Holm for their fantastic hospitality and look forward to visiting them again soon.

 

 

Congratulations to Scott Ireland who won the 2016 Men's Club Championship in testing conditions against Russell Wyper with a score of 2 & 1. 

Both players did exceptionally well in battling the elements on the day.


 

Weather permitting essential aeration work is scheduled to start on the greens from Wednesday, 28 September. This will consist of a heavy top dressing of sand and a solid tine using 10mm tines to a depth of approximately 220mm. Reasons for these works are mainly to help relieve compaction caused throughout the growing season, control moss and prevent surface water. 

Temporary greens will be cut and be used throughout the winter months during frost and also when work is being carried out on the main greens.


 

The new PING G- Series woods have arrived in store. All custom fitting will take place with the use of the FlightScope Launch monitor. 

Compared to the G30, the G fairways are longer and more forgiving, plus it has extra fitting options for us tap in to.
